Prof. Dr. med. Roland Albrecht

Prof. Dr. med. Roland Albrecht is an FMH specialist in anaesthesia, intensive care and emergency medicine. Since 2008, he has been chief physician and member of the management board of Rega Executive Board, where he is responsible for shaping the medical mission strategy of the Swiss Air-Rescue. He is also chief physician and a member of the board of trustees of the Swiss Alpine Rescue (ARS), as well as a part-time consultant at the surgical intensive care unit at the Cantonal Hospital of St. Gallen.

In 2021, the Executive Board of the University of Bern granted him the venia docendi for the subject of emergency medicine, specifically air rescue medicine, and he was appointed adjunct associate professor effective 1 August 2023. In addition to his medical activities, he is a member of various academic professional organisations such as the FMH, SGAR, SGI, SGNOR and the HEMS European Research Collaboration (HERC) working group. His expertise lies at the interface between clinical practice, research and strategic development of emergency medicine in Switzerland.
